Maloof Money Cup “Rips”

Posted by: epadmin in Untagged  on

The World's Greatest Skateboarding event gets the World's Greatest Salsa!
El Pinto was asked to join with the State of New Mexico and serve samples of our world famous salsa at the inaugural Maloof Money Cup. During the airing of the event El Pinto will have its first national commercial played. The event is to air on CBS July 20th from

12:00-3:00pm EST. Check out www.maloofmoneycup.com for details and more.

Leave it to the Maloof brothers to go "goofy" on us and create something out of nothing and leave everyone begging for more. If I had any reservations about how this event would play out, they were quickly diminished by the determination and infectious qualities that surround these guys. If you are going to say that this is going to be the "Greatest" skateboarding event in the world you better have your wheels and trucks fastened tight because second place sucks.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm an old guy that just turned 50, and a former "ripper", in my day. We used skate boards as a mode of transportation and I believe the term "chicks dig scars" was from my day. Taking a rock at 20 mph was like jumping out of a car and helmets..."We don't need no stinkin helmets," only made you tougher. I don't think any of us ever thought that we could use anti-gravity to project this board 4 feet in the air, flip it a couple of times, land on a hand rail at 20 degrees, ride it to the bottom and land without killing yourself. The "vert" (vertical for you boomers) was amazing..."these guys got stones". I am completely amazed at the talent and competition that I saw at the MMC. The energy and enthusiasm that was created by this competition will surely elevate skateboarding to X-plus status. The crowds were unbelievable and the practice sessions were just as exciting as the final heats.

Visionaries create magical moments and the Maloof brothers are a study in creating magical moments. The name Maloof and the word greatest are usually close together and the latter is a self fulfilling prophecy. The organization, marketing and execution of this event was "world class" and it was quite obvious that talent follows these guys every where they go. The entertainment value was far beyond the scope of what I thought it would be and I want to know when I can get my tickets for the next one. The unlikely fallout is that old boarders like me will start showing up at these events and... "there goes the neighborhood".

JOHN MCCAIN ENJOYS EL PINTO’S WORLD FAMOUS CUISINE

Posted by: epadmin in Untagged  on

Albuquerque, N.M. - Senator John McCain didn't leave the Land of Enchantment hungry this afternoon. The presidential hopeful and presumptive Republican nominee was able to enjoy some of El Pinto's traditional New Mexican cuisine before departing from the Duke City after his latest campaign stop.

While El Pinto doesn't confirm the Senator's exact order, co-owner Jim Thomas did confirm a delivery including El Pinto's signature enchiladas, rib-eye steaks, traditional New Mexican fare, salsa and queso, was delivered to Senator McCain's plane shortly before take-off.

Thomas, who owns El Pinto Restaurant with twin brother John, said they were honored to be chosen to serve McCain.

"They know when they come to New Mexico where to come for the good stuff," Thomas said. "If these guys are on the run for 18 hours a day, they need food that's going to get the job done."

This isn't the first time El Pinto has served high-profile political clientele. The restaurant served President George W. Bush during both his 2000 and 2004 presidential campaigns. In addition, El Pinto has proudly catered the Cinco de Mayo festivities at the White House throughout the Bush administration.

EP at the ABQ Sunport

Posted by: epadmin in Untagged  on

Everybody has been asking "When will you open at the airport?" Since the announcement that El Pinto Restaurant and Cantina will take over the Gardunos space at the Albuquerque Sunport, we've been swamped with that same question. Here's the answer - soon! The Sunport higher-ups want us to get in there ASAP. But we have a fairly big "extreme makeover" planned for the space. We're putting in an open kitchen, new dining areas and bar, a food-to-go section and lots more. What you see in there now won't even be the same once we get through with it. Better, brighter and more friendly which is the El Pinto way. We're really excited about the project and we're glad you are too. Watch this blog for updates and announcements. We'll share the news with you along the way.

Flying Burritos, Brother

Big announcement today. El Pinto will be taking over the space at the Albuquerque International Sunport that now houses Gardunos. Jim Thomas, one of the Salsa Twins and owner of El Pinto with his twin brother John, announced the move to the airport with TV reporter Kim Holland of KRQE 13. The City of Albuquerque awarded the contract to El Pinto. Soon El Pinto will begin remodeling the space to reflect a true New Mexico travelers welcome center.

Among the remodeling plans will be a display kitchen, a private dining space and plenty of fresh El Pinto New Mexican food to enjoy in the new dining room or to take with you on the plane. Plans include providing fresh tortillas and plenty of the famous El Pinto Salsa for you to get on your way to your travel destination or when you get home. The same great menu found at the original El Pinto will be availble a the airport location.

The whole idea behind the new El Pinto at the airport will be to feature New Mexican cuisine and culture to travelers from all over the world who come through the Sunport.

And here's a thought. When you get home from your trip, you won't have to wait very long to get your chile fix!

The Walls Came Tumbling Down

Posted by: epadmin in Untagged  on

During the Winter months there are temporary walls that go up in the restaurant to enclose a portion of the patio area for additional seating. Those walls usually come down May 1 but we did it earlier this year. They actually came down last Monday. All that means to you is...the patio is open! Summer afternoons and evenings out on the patio at El Pinto is one of life's great pleasures.

Six new products to be introduced Spring 2008

Albuquerque, N.M. - El Pinto is introducing six new products into the spicy foods market this Spring 2008. These products will be available in spring 2008 in retail outlets across the United States and are available online today!

The products are as follows:

Chipotle Salsa:

This salsa is an adaptation of El Pinto's original salsa. Smoked jalapenos add rich, smokey flavor. This salsa is great alone, with chips, or it can be made into a quick and easy pasta salad. It's also great when served heated.

Wild and Fiery Chipotle Salsa:

This salsa is a version of El Pinto's smokey chipotle, but much hotter. It can be served with chips, with any meat or it can be used as a base to make a zesty barbecue sauce

Taco Salsa:

A version of El Pinto's original salsa, the Taco Salsa is blended down and cooked longer for a style of salsa that is similar to that found in a restaurant. It is great chilled with chips, but also has a great flavor when heated and used to pour over grilled fish or chicken, and of course, for pouring over tacos.

Green Chile Taco Salsa:

This taco salsa is a tomatillo and roasted green chile salsa that makes a flavorful addition when poured over tacos. It can be used whenever a recipe calls for salsa verde or regular salsa. It has a great flavor with seafood dishes and it makes a great taco topper that kids will love.

Roasted Green Chile:

Roasted Green Chile is an awesome product that only uses the best flame-roasted and hand-peeled green chiles. El Pinto mixes the green chiles with garlic for a product that is perfect for cheeseburgers, pizza, on eggs - any place you like your green chile. The possibilities are endless with this product. No defrosting or draining required!

Red Chile Sauce:

This special sauce is made with sundried red chiles. It has a rich and unique flavor only El Pinto can create. It's wonderful for traditional New Mexican dishes like enchiladas, posole, and chile con carne, but it can also be used in Asian or Italian dishes. This is a great product to use when you want to add spice and a rich flavor. El Pinto's Red Chile Sauce is sure to be a customer favorite!
